GUILDERLAND — Cheryl Ann Stilsing — recalled as a loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dearest sister — died on Sunday, April 28, 2019, with her family by her side. She was 62.

Born in Albany on Oct. 19, 1956, Ms. Stilsing was the beloved daughter of Dorilee (née Hedrick) Stilsing and the late Harold Stilsing.

Ms. Stilsing was a lifelong resident of Guilderland and a graduate of Guilderland High School, class of 1975.

Following high school, she enlisted in the United States Army.

Upon her discharge from the Army, Ms. Stilsing enrolled in Albany Business College from 1977 to 1979, earning an associate’s degree. She went on to work for many years as an accountant and secretary for Stilsing Electric.

Ms. Stilsing loved cats, gardening, visiting the beach, and her family camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondacks. She was a fan of ’70s music.

She is survived by her sons, William Stilsing and Jason Barber, and his wife, Theresa; by her grandchild, Zoey Barber; by her siblings, Linda Spring, Lisa Ort, Lloyd Stilsing, and Jenise Stilsing; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her father, Harold Stilsing, died before her.

The Stilsing family thanks the M-5 staff at Albany Medical Center for giving Ms. Stilsing such compassionate care in her final days.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service in East Greenbush Cemetery in East Greenbush.
