ALTAMONT — Catherine A. Maikoff, who grew up in the family florist business and loved flowers all her life, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019. She was 92.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1926 in White Plains, New York, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (née Renovetz) Dudyshyn. Raised in Valhalla, New York, she grew up in the family florist business, Kensico Floral Company.

She married the love of her life, Daniel Maikoff, on Aug. 21, 1948, and together they raised two sons. “She had a love for flowers, and would rather be in her garden than anywhere else,” her family wrote in a tribute.

She enjoyed knitting and quilting and was a wonderful baker. She retired from New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as a tax specialist in 1986.

Catherine A. Maikoff is survived by her sons, Thomas Maikoff and his wife, Terrie, and Timothy Maikoff and his wife, Carol; by her grandsons, Wesley and Justin Maikoff; by her granddaughters, Melissa Pangburn and her husband, Miles, and Megan Sato and her husband, Gen; and by her great-grandchildren, Madeline and Maxwell Pangburn.

Her beloved husband, Daniel Maikoff, died on June 16, 2003.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 2 Broadway, Valhalla, New York with Father John Anthony officiating. Interment will be in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
