Florence May Friebel — a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — of North Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 90.

Born Nov. 17, 1928, in Western Springs, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Merton Leo and Julia Augusta Vincent.

“She was a retired bookkeeper and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, puzzles, and crafting,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She also adored her two Yorkies, Ginger and Willa.”

Florence May Friebel is survived by her sons, William V. Dumas and David E. Friebel and his wife, Lynn; her stepchildren, Sharon Hext and her husband, Gerald, and Leonard Friebel; her grandchildren, Deborah Spencer, Daniel Dumas, Jennifer Dumas, and Nicole Hersel and her husband, Christopher; and and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Her parents, Merton Leo and Julia Augusta Vincent, died before her, as did her husband, Robert E. Friebel; her stepson, Robert Friebel; her brother, Raymond Vincent and his wife, Margaret; and her sister, Loretta Davis and her husband, Walter.

Friends will be received on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon at the Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont. Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Schenectady.

“The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and care of Florence … ,” the tribute said. “The family requests that any donations be made, in Florence’s name, to a charity of your choice.”
