Richard J. Luniewski

Richard J. Luniewski, a long-time resident of Gallupville, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 78.

Born on April 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Alexander and Estella Luniewski Sr. He graduated from Schoharie Central School and Cobleskill College with a degree in horticulture and greenhouse management.

He worked for Union College for over 25 years and ran Rundy Cup Meadow in Gallupville. As a young man, he enjoyed gardening, raising and showing bluetick coonhounds, and hunting raccoons for the local farmers. As he matured, he loved going to auctions, garage sales, and flea markets with Jann, his wife of 29 years.

When they moved to Florida, he fell in love with the beautiful blue skies, the warm weather, and the laidback friendly people.

He is survived by his wife, Jann Downing Bolton, and two stepchildren, Christopher Paprocki and his wife, Andrea, of Rochester, New York and their two sons, Steven Paprocki and Jordon Paprocki as well as two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Layla of Denver, Colorado, and Karen Bolton Bedell and her husband, Mark, and their two sons, Erick Bedell and Joshua Bedell —  all of Averill Park, New York.

He is also survived by his three sisters, Jeanne Stevens and her husband, Phil, Sandra Kelsch, and Marcia Adams and her husband, Tom; by his uncle, Chester Rukat; and by numerous nephews and nieces, including a special niece, Tina Kelsch.

His brother, Alexander Luniewski, and his wife, Doris, died before him, as did his sister, Antonia Bogardus and her husband, Bernard.

At the request of the family, there will be no services or visiting hours.

Arrangements are by the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mourners wanting to send the family a message or share a story may go to Mr. Luniewski’s memorial page at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
