Beverly Jean Lufkin Halsdorf

Beverly Jean Lufkin Halsdorf — a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — died on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was 80.

Her late husband, William George Halsdorf, a Pearl Harbor survivor, died before her. Mrs. Halsdorf maintained a lifetime membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7062 Ladies’ Auxiliary in Altamont.

A native of Cambridge, New York, she was born on March 18, 1938, the daughter of the late Roland E. and Dorothy Dunbar Lufkin. She attended Cambridge Central High School and Mildred Elley College in Albany.

After moving to North Carolina, she was employed as a bookkeeper at GasTown for 14 years and then worked as hostess at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store before retiring with 22 years service.

She especially enjoyed attending shows at the Barn Dinner Theatre.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Moore of North Carolina, William G. Halsdorf Jr. of Latham, Bruce Halsdorf and his wife, Wendy, of Altamont, Marguerita England and her fiancé, Mike Michaux, of Stokesdale, Marge Abdella and Jeff Carrow of Rotterdam, and Nancy Avoli and her husband, Jeremy, of Harwick, Pennsylvania.

She is also survived by her sister, Linda Tyler and her husband, Tim, of Greenwich, New York; by seven grandchildren; by six great-grandchildren; and by special friends, Linda and Randy Tyson, Linda Carter, Donna Norwood, and Eddie and Sonya Pegram as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Her parents and husband died before her, as did her daughter Veronica Halsdorf, her grandson David Terrell, and her granddaughter Rebecca England.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, New York.
