MIDDLEBURGH — Richard S. Hempstead, who worked for General Electric, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 25, 2018. He was 35.

He was born on March 21, 1983 in Albany, the son of Gerald “Dick” and Linda Hempstead.

He attended Middleburgh High School. He was employed with GE Turbine of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Makynley; by his siblings Lauri Motschmann and her husband, Robert, Carrie Unser, and Tyrel Hempstead; by his maternal grandmother, Ethel McDermott; and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His sister Sherri died before him, as did his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Helen Hempstead, and his maternal grandfather, Harold McDermott.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to noon with a service to follow at noon at the Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main St. in Altamont. Interment will be at the Knox Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.fredendallfuneralhome.com.
