GUILDERLAND — Julie White, a nurse who loved cats, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. She was 41.

She was born on Jan. 24, 1973, in Gouverneur, the daughter of Richard White and Joyce Ashlaw.

She graduated from Edwards-Knox Central School in 1991 and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1993.

She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital and various at home health-care services as a registered nurse.

Ms. White loved cats, according to a tribute written by her family, and volunteered at several animal shelters.

She also enjoyed collecting dolls, swimming, boating, going to concerts, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her father, Richard “Kate” White, and his wife, Linda, of Russell; her mother, Joyce Lane, and her husband, Stephen, of Edinburg; her fiancé, Patrick, of Albany; her brother, Richard White, and his wife, Katie, of Russell; her sisters, Penny Claus, and her husband, Kerry, on Canton, and Brandy White, of Tucson, Arizona; a nephew, Joshua Claus; and a niece, Katelyn White, of Russell.

A memorial service was held on July 14 at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton, with Lay Minister Martha Helmer officiating. Burial will take place today, July 17, in the South Russell Cemetery, at 1 p.m.
