KNOX —  Jennie Jablonowski Stevens was devoted to her church and to the Stevens business but took her greatest joy from her family. She died peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was 99.

Born on Feb. 5, 1919, she lived in Albany, then Voorheesville, graduating from Albany High and Mildred Elley Business School.

She met her beloved husband, Marshall Stevens, while roller-skating at the Knox Cave skating rink. They married in 1940 and Mrs. Stevens worked side by side with her husband in their home heating oil business, until her retirement in 2004.

A devoted member of Knox Reformed Church, she was active in the Social Club, Vacation Bible School, and Election Day Chicken Supper.

She loved to watch sports on television, especially the Yankees. She took joy in tending to her beautiful flower gardens and spent many years boating on Sacandaga Lake.

“Above all else,” her family wrote in a tribute, “she was happiest spending time with her family, whether it was celebrating special occasions, attending their school and sporting events, or vacationing with them.”

Jennie Jablonowski Stevens is survived by her children, Robert Stevens of Knox, Ronald Stevens and his wife, Kathy, of Schoharie, Bradford Stevens and his wife, Jan, of Canandaigua, and Marcia White and her husband, Mark, of Liverpool; her grandchildren, Jason, Travis, Daniel, Megan, Rebecca, Tylor, and Amber; and by her 14 great-grandchildren, to whom she affectionately known as “GG”; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.

Her husband, Marshall Stevens, died before her, as did her parents, Walter and Helen Jablonowski; her brothers, William, Henry, and Frank Jablonowski; her sister, Helen Zeronda; and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Stevens.

The family expresses its sincerest thanks to the Eddy Visiting Nurses and The Community Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.

A visiting hour will be held at the Knox Reformed Church from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, with interment at a later date. Mourners may leave condolences online at fredendallfuneralhome.com.
