Jane H. Springer

GUILDERLAND — Jane H. Springer, a former Guilderland Town Clerk and representative in the Albany County Legislature, died peacefully on March 15, 2014, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was 83.

Mrs. Springer was born in Ithaca, the daughter of Charles and Marion Newman.

She graduated from Kent Place and Cornell University.

She married Raymond E. Springer in 1952.

She served the community of Guilderland as a town clerk through many election cycles, was a representative in the Albany County Legislature, and was instrumental in the process resulting in the building of the Guilderland YMCA.

She was an elder of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church before moving to Austin, Texas.

“She loved all Guilderland sports, especially the soccer program, and was a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and all things Saratoga Springs,” wrote her family in a tribute.

“She loved her family, extended family, and many friends from around the region,” her family concluded.

Mrs. Springer is survived by her sons, Stephen and John; her grandchildren, Tyler, David, Jordan, Lauren, Jeffrey, and Sean; and by her brother, John Newman, of St. Louis, Missouri, and his family.

A memorial service will be held at the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m.
