GUILDERLAND — A woman says she was assaulted when she was out for a walk on Tuesday and the police are asking anyone who might have seen the suspect to call them.

A press release from the Guilderland Police Department said events unfolded this way:

The woman was walking along West Old State Road, near the closed bridge, around 11:38 a.m., when an unknown white man approached her.

“She said she was out for a walk when a man came out of the woods and dragged her back into the woods,” said Captain Curtis Cox on Wednesday.

The man was described as approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a medium build, between 40 and 50 years old, with cropped light or gray hair and facial scruff, and wearing a white shirt, blue pants, and flip flops.

The woman escaped and called the police at 12:16 p.m.

“The man was nowhere to be found,” said Cox.

The Guilderland Police Department and the New York State Police Aviation team conducted a search of the area, which turned up no results.

The victim sustained minor injuries that were treated at the scene.
