Altamont celebrates Victorian Holiday on December 10

The beautifully restored Hiram Griggs House, home of Altamont’s first mayor, will be one of the Victorians in this year’s Holiday House Tour.

ALTAMONT — The village is once again planning to host its annual Victorian Holiday celebration. Organized by Altamont Community Tradition, the celebration — on Sunday, Dec. 10, from noon to 5 p.m. — is a family event that attracts visitors from across the Capital Region.

This year’s Holiday House Tour will feature vintage village homes that have been lovingly restored and decorated for the season. House tours are $5 with trolley transportation included.

Other events are free.

In addition to the house tours, the village will host a Festival of Trees, Wreath Auction, and Living Nativity. There will be indoor and outdoor activities throughout the village, including food, crafts for kids, bonfires, games, a treasure hunt, and music.

The popular Winter Market features artisan crafts, local brews, and festive food and is now in multiple indoor village locations. Many village businesses will open regular hours with some hosting special events.

At 5 p.m., Santa arrives by train at the beautifully restored Victorian train station on Main Street with gifts and photo opportunities for kids.
