CAMBRIDGE — Earl H. Green, a religious man and Korean War veteran who worked as a butcher, died on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. after a brief illness. He was 80.

Born in Lynn, Mass. on May 9, 1933, he was son of the late Theodore and Jennie Cloutman Green.  He was raised in Danvers, Mass.

Mr. Green served as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was employed for over 30 years as a butcher and meat cutter, last working at Henry’s Market in Beverly, Mass. He and his wife also owned restaurants and cafeterias in Massachusetts.  They retired in 1999.

Mr. Green was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, where his son is pastor.  In past years, he was an active church member in Massachusetts and Maine.

“Earl dearly loved God and His people, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher,” his family wrote in a tribute.

Earl H. Green is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra L. Wilt Green; three children, Brenda McGuire and her husband, Tom, Rev. Brian Green and his wife, Donna, and Pamela Mailly and her husband, Gerard; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Sheldon Green; two sisters, Ronda Kelloway her husband, Randy, and Patricia Green; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents died before him, as did his two brothers, Robert and Orris Green, whose wives, Irene and Margaret, also survive.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo. Arrangements area by the A. J. Cunningham Funeral Home of Greenville. Mourners may leave condolences online at ajcunninghamfh.com.
