David Albert Crosby

David Albert Crosby, a former Guilderland resident who directed college events and loved fishing, died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, in Belhaven, N.C. He was 57.

Mr. Crosby was born on Feb. 2, 1956, in Hudson, N.Y., the oldest son of the late Howard and Jane Crosby, of Foundry Road in Guilderland.

He graduated from Guilderland High School in 1974, and he attended Hudson Valley Community College, and York College of Pennsylvania, and then earned a master’s degree in education administration from East Carolina University.

He was a former city councilman in Belhaven, N.C., and worked as the director of special events for the Beaufort County Community College for 26 years.

He was a certified emergency medical technician, and was very active and served on the financial board of directors and was a deacon at the St. Clair’s Church of Christ, in Bath, N.C.

Mr. Crosby loved fishing and going on his boat, said his sister, Kathy Liska.

“He was devoted to his family, and a friend to all,” she said. “He lived a wonderful life.”

Mr. Crosby is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lucy Respass Crosby; their daughter, Danielle Crosby Wells, her husband, Jeremy Wells, and their daughter, Ella Wells, of Bath, N.C.; his sisters, Kathy Liska, and her husband, Wayne, of Guilderland, and June Costello, and her husband, Jonathan, of Clifton Park; and his brother, Paul Crosby, and his wife, Stephanie, of Albany.
