County hosts free baseball camp

NEW SCOTLAND — The Albany County Recreation Department will host a free baseball summer camp that will provide kids a way to learn the game or improve their skills.

The camp is open to all county youth ages 7 to 13, and all equipment except for baseball gloves will be provided.

This is the county’s first baseball camp but, according to a release from county Executive Daniel McCoy, the county has offered free programs in lacrosse, karate, flag football and other sports, serving more than 2,400 kids.

Registration for the program will take place on Aug. 7, at 8:30 a.m. or participants may download forms at http://www.albanycounty.com/Government/Departments/RecreationDept/recbureau-baseball.aspx. The camp will be offered on weekdays from August 7-18 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Clayton A. Bouton High Satellite Field, 479 New Salem Road in New Scotland. For more information, call (518) 447-7948.
