Beals honored with scholarship in his name

To the Editor:

The City School District of Albany recently awarded a $5,000 scholarship in memory of G. Stephen Beals Sr.

Steve was a member of the Albany Public Schools for 31 years. He served as a special-class teacher, assistant principal of Giffen Memorial School, principal of schools 17 and 18, and night school principal of Albany High School.

He was a friend and mentor to all his students, and was so grateful and proud of all his teachers.

Steve died July13, 2016.
