West Elm home furnishings to open in Stuyvesant Plaza

GUILDERLAND — The newest entrant to the upscale mall, Stuyvesant Plaza, is West Elm, a branch of Williams-Sonoma that offers contemporary furniture and home accessories.

West Elm will open a 10,500-square-foot store at the beginning of October, according to Janet Kaplan, vice president with Stuyvesant Plaza.

“We’re very excited. We think it will be a great attraction here,” Kaplan said.

The store will be at about the center of the mall, said Kaplan, where Catherines and Jean-Paul Salon used to be.

Jean Paul Salon combined with Jean Paul Spa, and Catherines moved over to the other side of the mall, in what was formerly the Hallmark space, Kaplan explained. The Hallmark store was a franchise, and the owner decided to close the store in our area, she said.

Williams-Sonoma also owns Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids.
