THE CLOSING EXERCISES

During the past week, the annual events in connection with the closing of the Altamont High school have taken place. The events of the week were the graduating exercises of the grades Friday afternoon; the Delta Alpha banquet Friday evening; the Baccalaureate sermon Sunday evening; the Alumni banquet Monday evening, and the commencement exercises of the High school Tuesday evening.

Closing of the Grades.

On Friday afternoon in the assembly room of the school the pupils of the grades held their closing exercises. A varied and interesting program was cleverly carried out to the satisfaction and entertainment of the friends of the school who crowded the room. Several drills and exercises by the younger pupils of the grades were pleasing features of the program.

Commencement exercises.

The commencement exercises were held Tuesday evening at the Masonic hall in the presence of a large gathering of friends and patrons of the school. The attendance was not as large as usual, owing to the storm which began a short time before the exercises. However, the hall was comfortably filled by the audience.
