BERNE
The community was much startled on Monday noon to hear that Abran Jansen’s house was on fire. A large number of men were soon there and with much hard work saved the building although the interior of a couple of rooms with the contents were badly burned and the whole house much damaged by smoke and water.
VILLAGE NOTES
Jonah Dinehart, our enterprising gardener and all-’round handy man about town, presented us with a sample of the fruits of his garden Monday morning. It was the first picking of peas from his garden on Maple avenue. They were very fine and are highly appreciated.
