Classes might have been over but not for the Voorheesville AP Physics. On Wednesday, June 21, students in the class showed off their class project to some eighth-graders at the school.

Hands-on learning: Like a topographical map, heights of sand are represented as colors in the Augmented Reality Sandbox built by high school seniors, including Sara Gannon, at left, who shows middle school students on Wednesday morning how it works. Funding was donated by the Voorheesville PTA, the Community and School Foundation, and the Voorheesville Fire Department.

Making mountains, Voorheesville eighth-graders play with a sandbox built by Advanced Placement Physics students at Clayton A. Bouton High School. The Augmented Reality Sandbox uses an Xbox sensor to read the movement of the sand. The AP students are donated the sandbox to the Earth Science program.
