ALTAMONT — Esther May Adams — the mother of five, grandmother of 15, and great-grandmother of 16 — died on Monday, May 1, 2017, at The Grand of Guilderland. She was 94.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1922 to William and Eva (née Robare) Kehoe.

Mrs. Adams worked at several jobs throughout her life, including at General Electric in Schenectady, waitressing, and as a nurse’s aid at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home. She also took in laundry for people.

She was a member of the Altamont Seniors and St. Lucy / St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Gary Adams and his wife, Linda, Larry Adams and his wife, Kathy, Nancy Chesnut and her husband, Daniel, David Adams and his wife, Cindy, and George Adams and his wife, Erin; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Anne Wetmore.

Her husband, Noble Adams, died in 1996. Her grandson, Dennis Chesnut, also died before her, as did her daughter-in-law Cecelia Adams, and her sisters, Dorothy Chenevert and Martha Monnette.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home at 199 Main Street in Altamont. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy / St. Bernadette Catholic Church at 109 Grand Street in Altamont. Interment will be at Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam following the service.
