Margaret J. Rau

ALTAMONT — Margaret J. Rau, a devoted wife and mother, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. She was 93.

She was born on April 29, 1923 in Schenectady, the daughter of Blanche L. Jeffords and Charles Vedder.

Her husband, Everett Rau, had this advice for mourners: “When a person has lived a long time and they die, it is OK to celebrate the sadness and the loss. But it’s important to remember the gain. I was loved by this woman for 74 years. She gave me four beautiful children. She loved me all the time. You have to look at the gain.”
