Sheridan Monument to Be Dedicated Saturday, October 7th.

The ceremonies in connection with the dedication of the monument in memory of General Philip Sheridan, now being erected in Capitol park, Albany, will take place on Saturday afternoon of this week. Many men of state and national prominence will be present. Governor Whitman and ex-Governors Odell, Glynn and White have signified their intention to attend. General Hay Warren Kiefer of Ohio will come for the purpose of entertaining the guests of the banquet with incidents of Sheridan’s life and stories of his campaign in the Shenandoah valley. General Kiefer was formerly chief of staff under Sheridan, and also speaker of the House of Representatives.

A parade will take place prior to the dedication in which upwards of 2,000 soldiers will participate. Mrs. Philip H. Sheridan and her daughter will be present at the dedication.

VOORHEESVILLE.

Pupils of the primary department of the village school with perfect attedance during the month of September are: Grace Hockenberry, Josephine Tork, Stella brunk, Dorothy Delamater and Milton Hotaling.

VILLAGE NOTES.

John Livingston caught a ten-pound pike at Warner’s Lake Tuesday. This breaks the record.

LOCAL BREVITIES.

Roger, the nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Cochrane of Cherry avenue, died last Friday in St. Peter’s hospital in Albany, after an operation for appendicitis. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon from the house, the Rev. M. A. Hammond, pastor of the M. E. church, officiating.
