On Tuesday evening, a fire broke out at 3935 Western Turnpike in Altamont. A signal 30 was declared and crews battled the fire for quite some time.

Tankers had to be used, to fight the fire since there were no fire hydrants close by. Five companies had such equipment: Knox, Plotterkill, Rotterdam District 6, North Bethlehem, and Pine Grove.
