BERNE — Thoroughly dedicated to his family, Donald Emil Moser was happy to come home from his travels and be at baseball games to watch his son.

Mr. Moser died on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was 80.

Mr. Moser was born in Schenectady on May 2, 1934, to the late Emil and Teresa Moser.

Growing up in Schenectady, Mr. Moser graduated from Draper High School in 1952 and completed an apprenticeship course with the General Electric Company. During his 43 years at G.E., he worked as a salesman for turbine parts, traveling to customers in places as far off as South and Central America.

Seeking a rural lifestyle, the Mosers moved to Berne after they had had a taste of the country at a camp owned by his father-in-law on Lake Champlain in Vermont.

He had several interests, his wife, Roslyn Moser said, but he was also very modest.

“He never was an outgoing, so to speak, person,” she said. “He was happy with his family.” He was always present for whatever they were doing, she added. He was a loving and dedicated grandfather as well, his family wrote in a tribute.

 “A family man through and through, Don cherished his time spent with his loving wife of 59 years, Roslyn, and his family,” they wrote, concluding, “He was extremely proud” of his two daughters and his son.

Mr. Moser is survived by his wife, Roslyn Moser; his children, Eileen Gipp and her husband, Michael, and Donna Gaige and her husband, David, and Kurt Moser, and his wife, Tina; his grandchildren, Jennifer Gipp and her fiancé, Patrick, Jessica Gaige, Gregory Gaige, Allison Sanganetti and her husband, Vincent, Ryan Moser, and Morgan Moser; and his great-granddaughter, Gianna Batchelder. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Leone, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street in Altamont.
