The application period to hold pheasant hunts sponsored by the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation has begun.

This program enables experienced hunters and others to obtain state-reared pheasants for use in sponsored hunts for youth, women, novices, veterans, and people with disabilities.

Many states offer sales-tax breaks leading up to the school year, but in New York State clothing and footwear are always exempt from the state’s 4-percent sales tax when they are sold for less than $110.
