An Iraq War veteran was charged with a felony; his family says having him arrested was the only option to start treatment for his mental illness.

Altamont and Hilltown residents age 55 and over are welcome to the regular Tuesday luncheons starting at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Lucy/Bernadette Parish Center on Grand Street in Altamont.

The Student Conservation Association is accepting applications for the New York State Excelsior Conservation Corps. The first of several free-fishing events in New York took place, Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 18, when residents and visitors are permitted to fish for free without a fishing license on any of the state's 7,500 lakes and ponds or 70,000 miles of rivers and streams.

Seniors to tour Museum of Glass

The Princetown Seniors are hosting a May 2 trip to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.

Last July, severe storms and flash floods hurt roads, homes, and businesses. Now those hurt by the storms may apply for low-interest loans.

Examinations for people seeking a license to practice the sport of falconry, become a volunteer wildlife rehabilitator, or use leashed tracking dogs to find wounded or injured big-game animals are scheduled for Friday, April 13, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which gives the tests.

The Brain Injury Association of New York State will host Certified Brain Injury Specialist training at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga Springs on June 12 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
