Although still fairly preliminary, New Scotland residents without access to high-speed broadband now have an option.  

The village of Voorheesville’s budget for next year is down but residents will see an increase in their water bills.

The Voorheesville School Board approved a $26 million spending plan for the 2020-21 school year, which comes with a 3.14-percent levy increase — if voters approve it. 

Frank R. Dergosits 

VOORHEESVILLE — Frank R. Dergosits — “devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” his family wrote — died on Monday, April 6, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. He was 86.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1933, son of the late Emerich and Helen Dergosits.

NEW SCOTLAND — The coronavirus crisis has started to take its toll on residents’ mental health, as police were able to talk a 64-year-old New Scotland woman off of a ledge at Thacher Park on Tuesday.

Voorheesville’s proposed budget for 2020-21 is down $325,000 from this year.

NEW SCOTLAND — A food drive being hosted by Voorheesville Community Cares at the First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville at 68 Maple Ave. in the upper parking lot and at the Voorheesville Public Library at 51 School Road on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.

A judge has denied the sale of Picard’s Grove to developer Michael Biernacki for $500,000, requiring that other offers be considered and also that the property be appraised and that the owner’s personal property be properly inventoried.

Normally in April, school boards are adopting budgets and getting ready to ask the public to approve them; not this year. 

Jerry Parmenter, the owner of Elemental Landscapes in Voorheesville, has achieved a lot in a short span of time.
