After fire, Mobil re-opens



EAST BERNE — Ten months after Countryside Mobil caught fire on a cold, windy day, the local gas station and convenience store is opening its doors.

BERNE — David Weiser, Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s newly-appointed business administrator, has landed on solid ground.

HILLTOWNS — Two town justices are running unopposed Nov. 7 in an off year for local elections.

WESTERLO — Alene Galgay has been the town attorney since 1997, but, after hearing that a group within the town is against her re-appointment and critical of her actions, she said she doesn’t know why she does it anymore.

BERNE — A six-year-old child, accidentally dropped off two miles from her home, was given a lift by a passing motorist.

BERNE — Silence followed Supervisor Kevin Crosier’s motion to apply for a half-million dollar highway grant last Wednesday; none of the town board members seconded his motion. A half-dozen residents broke the quiet with cheers.
