EAST BERNE — As town and county officials continue to push a highway merger, Berne workers peppered them with questions at a meeting last Wednesday.

BERNE — Brian Corey is fulfilling a long-held goal in becoming principal at the Berne elementary school.
"I wanted to become a principal since I began teaching," Corey said.

BERNE —Joan Adriance, Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s newly appointed school board president, sees herself as a facilitator. She doesn’t see her role as one which gives her authority to make decisions.

BERNE — A Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School student who uses a wheelchair can’t get from the gym to the cafeteria now because they are on different levels.

KNOX — Whipple, Helderberg and Malachi roads have been maintained by the Knox highway department for years, according to Highway Superintendent Gary Salisbury. Salisbury would like to see them become town roads.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Town, school, and county tax are all based on assessed property values. Rensselaerville’s rolls had been skewed since town-wide revaluation was last done 15 years ago, so assessors are in the midst of updating now.

BERNE — "We need to set aside our fears, set aside our politics, help our residents, and save our tax dollars," Berne Supervisor Kevin Crosier said at last Wednesday night’s town board meeting.

KNOX — Glenn DiPaula knows the restaurant business. DiPaula, who recently opened The Hilltop Bistro, began his career in the food industry at an early age.
