Discolored village water is “no fun”

ALTAMONT — Four villagers complained to the mayor and trustees Tuesday night about discolored water.

GUILDERLAND — St. Boniface Episcopal Church will have a new priest on June 13, when Steven Scherck, currently a deacon, is ordained.

Last Sunday, the church celebrated Scherck as its new rector.

School district looks to change health habits

GUILDERLAND — The school district here is looking to change some health habits for workers so that it can save money.

GUILDERLAND — It’s official. After months of speculation and uncertainty, the Republican and Democratic parties in town have announced their candidates for the position of town supervisor.

GUILDERLAND — Edward Handy, 55, of Guilderland, died after his motorcycle was struck on Western Avenue, by a pickup truck on Saturday, May 2. The accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m., according to Guilderland Police.

GUILDERLAND — Brian McCann, who was named principal of Guilderland High School on Tuesday night, says that, at age 55, he feels like a kid again.

Grimm alleges police cover-up

GUILDERLAND — Councilman Mark Grimm, mulling a run for town supervisor, says he’s interested in letting people know the truth about the Guilderland Police Department.

GUILDERLAND — An old hand and a newcomer are making uncontested runs for the Guilderland Library Board of Trustees.

Barbara Fraterrigo has been on the board since the library had an elected board, that is, for 21 years.

GUILDERLAND — The bridge connecting one end of Weaver Road, with its 20 houses, to Route 146, has been closed, and will remain closed for the foreseeable future, leaving residents with concerns.
