WESTMERE — Audrey F. Bentz, a woman who “never met a stranger,” according to her family, died  peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2015, with her daughters by her side. She was 89.

Mrs. Bentz was born in Schenectady on April 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel R. (née Shaver) Fitzpatrick.

New York State Police public information officer Mark Cepiel said the investigation in the murder of a family of four last October was still ongoing and there was no new information. But, he said, all evidence had been removed from the house, and the owners were free to do as they pleased with it.

National Grid was contacted and immediately responded to the scene to fix the line.

The old machine has been tucked over in the back corner of a barn on the Altamont fairgrounds for years now, according to volunteer Andy Tinning.
