Age segregation isn’t a crime, but it is a shame.

The Beacon Communities project soon to be proposed at Mercy Care Lane in Guilderland would be the first of its kind in New York State. It is modeled on Treehouse Foundation of Easthampton, Massachusetts, which has achieved “fabulous” results for the children raised there, said Duncan Barrett of Beacon, who said that Beacon was asked by the state’s Office of Children and Family Services to replicate the model in New York State.

GUILDERLAND — Town officials will hold a presentation, at three different locations, on the upcoming town-wide revaluation and will answer any questions from residents:

— Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Fort Hunter firehouse, 2525 Carman Road from 7 to 8:30 p.m.;

ALTAMONT — On Wednesday night, after a packed hearing with more than 100 villagers, the Altamont Village Board voted, 3 to 2, to rezone the two-family home at 107-109 Helderberg Ave. from residential to commercial so that the adjacent Stewart’s Shop will be able to expand.
