Over 700 items of donated food that will feed 90 families this holiday season are displayed in shopping carts, one for each grade, as a staff member at Westmere Elementary raises her hand to quiet the crowd. Kindergartners contributed 76 bread mixes; first-graders, 154 cans of vegetables; second-graders, 110 cans of fruit; fourth-graders, 105 boxes of stuffing; fifth-graders, 86 bottles of vegetable oil; and teachers, 63 pie crusts and 43 jars of gravy, according to fifth-grade teacher Megan Gejay.
