Just like Santa’s sleigh: Georgianna Pennacchia grabs plastic bags out of one of the Guilderland teaching assistant’s cars that arrived at her home on Friday evening. The bags are filled with toys to be donated to children from St. Catherine’s Center awaiting foster care.

All for a good cause: Guilderland Teaching Assistants stand on Friday afternoon at the home of Georgianna Pennacchia with toys donated by students in Guilderland schools. From left are Linda Ciabotte, retired from Altamont Elementary; Shannon Whelan, Altamont; Michelle Farison, Westmere; Annette Long, Westmere; Donna Barranca, Westmere; Christine Govin, Guilderland; Nancy Doyle, Pine Bush; Pennacchia with her granddaughter Olivia Townsend; and Annette Wetsel, Guilderland. The first priority for distribution of the toys is at a party for children from St. Catherine’s Center who are awaiting foster care. The children are all 12 years or younger and will not have a home for the holidays. The rest of the toys will be distributed to children from about 150 local families who are experiencing difficulties in their lives and are in need of a special holiday season this year.
