On Tuesday afternoon before their Thanksgiving Recess, students had an assembly where the 5th grade class mentioned they will be collecting food donations for the Guilderland Food Pantry.

Sharing the plenty: Westmere Elementary students took turns at the microphone for a school assembly on Tuesday afternoon to tell what their classmates will donate to the Guilderland Food Pantry; kindergartners, for example, will bring in cake mix and frosting. The fifth-graders, many of them wearing bright red, planned the drive, which will run through Dec. 16.

Dressed as Native Americans for a Thanksgiving assembly Tuesday afternoon at Westmere Elementary School, students learn about the joys of giving — a drive is underway to collect goods for the Guilderland Food Pantry. “We would love to spread the word throughout the community that we are accepting donations and money for gift cards,” said fifth-grade teacher Cheri Hart.
