The Voorheesville Blackbirds competed in the pool-play portion of the girls’ volleyball state tournament on Saturday afternoon in Glens Falls. The Birds battled hard and played their best against the three teams, finishing with a record of 3-4. They forced a playoff game against Millbrook in hopes of playing for the state title against the now back-to-back state champion, Portville.

Julian had four service points, four kills, and two digs and Konicki had 26 kills, 11 blocks, and one dig in the pool play.

Tipping past the defense: Voorheesville’s Katy Bablin attempts to flick the ball past the boundary pole on the net and get it past the hands of Mattituck’s Rylie Skrezec during the first set of the third match in pool play. Bablin had 34 service points, seven aces, 27 assists, and six digs.
