The Guilderville girls’ swim team — with athletes from Guilderland and Voorheesville — dove and jumped from the blocks at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Swimming and Diving championships on Friday during the preliminaries at Ithaca College in efforts to win a state championship.

Pushed off: Guilderville’s Stephanie Erickson leaps from the starting block in the 200-yard freestyle on Friday morning in the preliminaries. Erickson finished eighth in her heat with a time of 1:56.94 and finished 31st overall in the state. She also competed in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing tenth in her heat on Friday with a time of 5:18.22 — 44th in the state.

Deep breath: Guilderville’s Olivia Martin swims the second leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay on Friday morning. The relay team finished seventh in its heat with a time of 1:41.58. On Saturday, the relay team bettered its position by finishing 22nd in the state with a time of 1:40.11.

Hair a-flying: Guilderville’s Eliana Wallock dives in the first round of the 1-meter dive portion of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships on Friday afternoon. Wallock scored a 45.60 on the dive and finished in 40th in the state with a score of 174.35 points.
