The second season for Voorheesville and Guilderland lacrosse teams started last week — and ended this week.

The Guilderland boys traveled to Bethlehem on Saturday morning in the Class A quarterfinals and fell, 10 to 7. Guilderland’s Nick Cardinal leaps to take a shot against the Bethlehem goal in the fourth quarter. Cardinal scored on the play as one of his three goals.

For the Blackbirds, in the Class D sectional quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon at home against Cambridge, the Indians took the Birds to the limit but the Birds won in overtime, 10 to 9, then on Tuesday the Birds lost to Schuylerville, 14 to 4. Voorheesville’s Ian Owens winds up to take the game-winning shot and goal early in overtime on Saturday. Owens had three goals and three assists.

Finally, the Guilderland girls were at home last Thursday and won, 16 to 12, but fell on Monday to Shenendehowa, 10 to 9. Guilderland’s Lizzy Dollard makes a move, with determination in her eyes, in the first half of Thursday’s game. Dollard had two assists in the game.
