Not observing social distance: Protesters Friday carry American flags and flags in support of Donald Trump as they gather at the state capitol in Albany, demanding an end to the “lockdown.” Earlier in the day, Governor Andrew Cuomo had announced schools would remain closed for the rest of the academic year and that non-essential businesses would remain closed until at least May 15.

State Police on bikes observe protesters at the state capitol Friday. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan on Thursday urged residents and workers to avoid the area where what she called an “un-permitted” rally was to be held. To avoid the spread of COVID-19, she asked protesters to stay in their cars.
