With games postponed due to pesky snow, the Voorheesville Blackbirds and Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs were eager to start this season.

The Blackbirds’ second game, on Saturday at Watervliet, was a blowout. Voorheesville beat Watervliet, 17 to 1. The bats came alive through the slight cold breeze and the pitching was dominant. Carter Romansky, at left, releases a pitch toward the plate during the bottom of the first inning. Romansky pitched four innings, allowing just one hit and run while striking out seven batters and walking three.

Romansky went four innings, allowing one hit, one run while striking out seven hitters, and three walks. The Blackbirds won the game, 17 to 1.
