An early-morning crash on Easter closed down Carman Road for about three hours after a Jeep severed a utility pole near the intersection with Lone Pine Road. The driver was gone and the Jeep Compass locked when police arrived, according to the accident report from the Guilderland Police. The driver, Jack A. Benjamin, 27, of 128 Morningside Dr. in Oneonta, turned himself in at the police station later on Sunday and was charged with three traffic infractions, according to Deputy Chief Curtis Cox.

National Grid employees work to replace a utility pole severed early Sunday when, police say, Jack A. Benjamin of Oneonta hit it with his Jeep Compass. He was charged with three infractions — moving from a lane unsafely, driving across hazard markings, and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident — according to Deputy Chief Curtis Cox of the Guilderland Police. Benjamin, 27, was turned over to City of Saratoga Springs Police because he was wanted on a bench warrant there for disorderly conduct, Cox said.
