Photos: States: Competing with the Best
Athletes from Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Guilderland took their talents to the state level this past weekend in wrestling, at Albany’s Times Union Center, on Friday and in gymnastics, at Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island on Saturday. Section 2 finished in the top five in wrestling and seventh in gymnastics.

Pouncing on his opponent: Bulldog Tyler Goodemote makes his preliminary-round opponent, Tyler Trombley from Northern Adirondack of Section 7, feel some pain as Goodemote won, 18-4. Goodemote fell in the championship’s first round and then was eliminated in the second round of the wrestlebacks.

Mental preparation: Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Tyler Goodemote watches the match prior to his in the championship first round against Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Ethan Cooper. Goodemote won his preliminary match, 18-4, then fell to Cooper, 12-2. Goodemote finished his season, falling in the second round of the wrestlebacks.

Using his power: Guilderland’s Cameron Durant attempts to hold off offensive moves by Section 6’s Codie Scotland from Lancaster in the 195-pound class of the championship opening round in Division I at the Times Union Center on Friday morning. Durant fell, 8-6, then fell in the second round of wrestlebacks.
