Photos: States: Competing with the Best

Athletes from Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Guilderland took their talents to the state level this past weekend in wrestling, at Albany’s Times Union Center, on Friday and in gymnastics, at Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island on Saturday. Section 2 finished in the top five in wrestling and seventh in gymnastics.

Pouncing on his opponent: Bulldog Tyler Goodemote makes his preliminary-round opponent, Tyler Trombley from Northern Adirondack of Section 7, feel some pain as Goodemote won, 18-4. Goodemote fell in the championship’s first round and then was eliminated in the second round of the wrestlebacks.

Brute strength: Guilderland’s Cameron Durant uses his strength in the third period of his championship opening round against Codie Scotland from Lancaster of Section 6 in which Durant fell, 8-6. He then ended his season in the second round of the wrestlebacks.

Air split: Guilderland's Addison Seebode flies through the air during her floor-exercise routine on Saturday afternoon. Seebode scored 8.700, finishing 35th. Seebode also competed on the balance beam, finishing 52nd with a score of 8.000.

Mental preparation: Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Tyler Goodemote watches the match prior to his in the championship first round against Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Ethan Cooper. Goodemote won his preliminary match, 18-4, then fell to Cooper, 12-2. Goodemote finished his season, falling in the second round of the wrestlebacks.

Durant fell, 8-6, then fell in the second round of wrestlebacks.
