Taking on 16 other schools in the annual Saratoga Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday, January 7, Guilderland finished 15th with 50 points.

Trying to use his power: Guilderland’s Sam Hopson takes on Tangen Rush from Canajoharie-Fort Plain in the 182-pound weight class where Hopson lost by pin in 1:28.

Punishing his first-round opponent in the 145-pound weight class, Guilderland’s Tyler Grupe took on Alex Wagenbaugh of Schenectady. Grupe beat Wagenbaugh, 5 to 0, then lost in the quarterfinals to Jared Bruno of Queensbury, 5 to 2, but finished fifth overall.

Cruising in his match, Guilderland’s Kevin Ochs took on Pat Baumgrass in the 145-pound weight class in the quarterfinals by a score of 14 to 0. Unfortunately, Ochs bumped heads with Baumgrass and was unable to compete the rest of the day.

Making his move: Guilderland’s Tyler Mooney battles with Trevor Snow from General Brown of Section 3 in the 170-pound weight class. Mooney lost by pin in 2:28 but finished fifth overall.
