Photos: Guilderland hits the mat rolling
On Sunday, the Guilderland Dutch varsity gymnastics team kicked off their season at the Hatsgiving charity event, which donates winter hats to children who have lost their hair while battling cancer. The event was held at World Class Gymnastics in Latham. This year, due to COVID restrictions, Section 2 gymnasts will compete in two “bubbles”at World Class Gymnastics and Wilton YMCA and compete at separate times to keep the athletes safe. The Dutch finished second with 153.85 on Sunday while Saratoga won and Shaker finished third; Bethlehem wasn’t able to participate on Sunday.

Flipping backwards: Guilderland’s Allie Rem backflips off the uneven bars in the charity meet on Sunday at World Class Gymnastics in Latham. Rem scored a 6.5. Each school was in the gym at a specific time due to new COVID guidelines and each gymnast wore a mask during the event.

Legs out: Guilderland’s Miranda Putorti competes Sunday in her team’s first event, Hatsgiving, a charity that donates winter hats to children who have lost their hair while battling cancer. Putorti scored an 8.425 in this event and a 31.425 in all-around. The Dutch finished second with 153.85 while Saratoga won and Shaker finished third; Bethlehem wasn’t able to participate on Sunday.
