A thunderstorm with heavy winds last Thursday night brought down trees and power lines, leaving many area residents without electricity. Here, a tree on the power lines on East Lydius Street left school district officials scrambling Friday morning to get children to school when buses could not travel over their usual route. Superintendent Marie Wiles said that the school sent out notifications, first to parents of high-school students and, later, another to parents of Pine Bush Elementary students. Parents were asked to bring children to either Siver or Taber roads. But, said Wiles, many opted instead to drive them to school.
