The Hilton Barn is lowered to its new foundation Monday as local volunteers look on. The 260-ton barn has been suspended on I-beams since March of this year after being moved from its previous location. Joseph Hilton had Frank Osterhout built the massive barn on his New Scotland farm in 1888. Now, New Scotland Supervisor Doug LaGrange says that he hopes to eventually connect the barn to the Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail and use it as a venue for events such as weddings.
Corrected on Nov. 14, 2016: The wrong weight for the barn was reported originally.
