Douglas LaGrange, an eighth-generation farmer and New Scotland’s supervisor, said, “The science that’s being used to regulate biosolids is old, it’s outdated, it hasn’t caught up with the testing that’s available now, it hasn’t caught up with the problems that are caused … by PFOAs, heavy metals, cadmium.” LaGrange spoke at the Jan. 27 press conference where Daniel McCoy signed his executive order banning the use of biosolids in Albany County for 90 days.
