Prepping the beds: NanoCollege faculty, staff, and students — no doubt used to cutting-edge technology — engaged in traditions as old as agriculture on Earth Day Tuesday as they readied the Patroon Land Farm in Knox for planting. Here, green stalks of garlic poke from beneath straw being fluffed by the volunteers. The self-sustaining educational farm — on land donated by Pauline Williman — grows more than 10,000 pounds of vegetables annually to supply the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York n its efforts to feed the hungry.
