The Enterprise — Dennis Sullivan
Michael Slayton stands next to the barn he is restoring at 15 Voorheesville Avenue in the village. The barn, according to Voorheesville’s village historian, Dennis Sullivan, was built by New Scotland master builder Frank Osterhout who also built the Hilton barn, recently saved from destruction by the town of New Scotland. Osterhout also built the Abe Furman barn on Krumkill and Font Grove; the building now used as Voorheesville Village Hall; and The Odd Fellows building, now the American Legion Hall, Sullivan said. Slayton also owns the Victorian home next to the barn. “He’s new to the village with great interest in preservation,” said Sullivan, who lives nearby.
