Pathways proponent: Alexandria “Rosita” Guerra of Berne-Knox-Westerlo is one of the Pathways Academy students who spoke to visiting educators on Feb. 12 about her experience at the two-year-old BOCES school, which serves 26 students from 10 districts. She said that she would not be finishing school, let alone attending Russell Sage College next year, if it had not been for Pathways. “I used to get C’s at my home school and now I am getting A’s and B’s. I used to not have the motivation to go to school and I would skip the majority of the time. Now, I look forward to coming to school,” she said. A senior who wants to pursue psychology as a career, Guerra was on the honor roll this quarter.
